Historically NZ native people wore the manaia symbol as a spiritual guardian against evil. It was traditionally carved with the tail of a fish, the body of a man, and the head of a bird. Today there are many depictions of this symbol depending on the artists’ interpretation.
This pendant also comes with a corded necklace that was hand braided.
