Bespoke Stone Art & Lighting

We create luxury bespoke stone art and custom lighting through a highly personal, made-to-order commission process. Each piece is individually designed and hand-crafted in rare stone, resulting in one-of-a-kind sculptures and statement lighting created for private collectors, interior designers, architects, and hospitality spaces worldwide.

Our bespoke commissions range from sculptural works and illuminated stone lighting to functional art and architectural features. Materials are selected specifically for each project, allowing the natural character, translucency, and movement of the stone to guide the final design.

Every commission begins with a private consultation to understand your vision, scale, and placement. Clients are guided through concept development, material selection, and design refinement, ensuring each work integrates seamlessly into its intended environment.

With limited commission availability, each bespoke stone artwork is crafted with precision, discretion, and longevity in mind—created not only to elevate a space, but to endure as a lasting work of art.

From Vision to Stone: How Our Process Works

At Fathom Stone Art Gallery & Studio, every custom commission begins with an idea. Whether you are envisioning a statement sculpture for your home, a meaningful gift, a luxury architectural element, or a one-of-a-kind heirloom piece, our team works closely with you to bring your vision to life through hand-carved natural stone art.

Step One: Design & Size Consultation

The commission process begins with a conversation. We discuss the style, concept, dimensions, and overall presence you would like the piece to have. Some clients arrive with detailed inspiration, while others simply have a feeling or theme they want to capture. From abstract forms to wildlife sculptures, illuminated stone pieces, functional art, or architectural installations, every commission is tailored specifically to the client.

Scale is an important part of the process. Whether you are looking for a small tabletop sculpture or a large statement installation, we carefully determine the ideal size to suit your space and vision.

Step Two: Selecting the Stone

Once the design direction is finalized, we help you choose the perfect stone for the piece. Each natural stone carries its own character, translucency, movement, texture, and energy. Depending on the project, clients may choose from a curated selection of materials including alabaster, marble, onyx, chlorite, jade, wonderstone, calcite, and other rare natural stones.

Because every stone is unique, no two commissioned works are ever identical. The natural veining, coloration, and patterns within the material ensure each finished sculpture is a true original.

Step Three: Custom Quote

After the design, size, and stone have been selected, we provide a custom quote for the project. Pricing is based on factors such as scale, complexity, material rarity, carving time, and installation requirements if applicable.

We believe in complete transparency throughout the process and are happy to discuss options that align with your vision and budget.

Step Four: Deposit & Creation

If you are happy with the quote and wish to proceed, we require a 50% deposit to begin the commission. This deposit secures the stone material, design planning, and carving schedule.

The remaining 50% balance is due upon completion of the artwork prior to delivery or pickup.

Throughout the creation process, we can provide progress updates, photos, and videos so clients can watch their piece evolve from raw stone into a finished work of art.

A One-of-a-Kind Investment

Every custom commission created by  Fathom Stone Art Gallery & Studio is entirely hand-carved and designed to last generations. These are not mass-produced pieces — they are collector-grade originals crafted from genuine natural stone with exceptional attention to detail and artistry.

Whether you are commissioning a personal sculpture, luxury interior feature, corporate installation, or meaningful family heirloom, our goal is to create something truly timeless.

Custom Jewellery Commissions

At Fathom Stone Art Gallery & Studio, every custom jewellery piece is designed collaboratively with the client from the very beginning. Rather than choosing from mass-produced designs, clients build their piece step-by-step by selecting the exact gemstones, materials, and details they love most.

Whether you are creating an engagement ring, statement pendant, earrings, or a one-of-a-kind heirloom piece, the process is entirely bespoke.

How the Commission Process Worksi

1. Choose Your Gemstones

Every commission begins with the stones.

Clients are presented with a curated selection of gemstones to choose from based on their style, colour preferences, and budget. We specialize in rare and collectible materials including ammolite, opals, diamonds and more.

Each stone is completely unique, allowing clients to personally select the exact piece that speaks to them.

2. Select Your Setting & Precious Metals

Once the gemstones are selected, we begin designing the setting around them.

Clients can customize:

  • Ring, pendant, bracelet, or earring styles
  • 14K or 18K gold
  • Yellow, white, or rose gold
  • Sterling silver
  • Platinum
  • Claw, bezel, halo, hidden bail, or custom settings

Every detail is tailored to suit the gemstone and the client’s personal aesthetic.

3. Customize the Details

This is where the piece truly becomes one of a kind.

Clients can further personalize their jewellery with:

  • Natural or lab-grown diamonds
  • Accent gemstones
  • Engraving
  • Custom textures and finishes
  • Matching sets
  • Hidden details or symbolic elements

We work collaboratively throughout the design process to refine every element before production begins.

4. Approval & Production

Once the final design and quote is approved, a 50% deposit is collected to begin production.

Each piece is handcrafted by skilled artisans using premium materials and traditional craftsmanship techniques. Depending on the complexity of the design, production timelines typically range from 3–8 weeks.

5. Completion & Delivery

Once completed, clients receive detailed photos and videos of the finished piece before shipping or pickup.

We offer:

  • Worldwide shipping
  • Certificates of authenticity available

Jewellery commissions shipped outside Canada typically do not incur Canadian taxes.

Truly One of a Kind

No two gemstone patterns are ever identical, which means every custom commission is inherently unique. From selecting the stone to refining the final setting, clients are involved in every step of the creative process.

The result is a deeply personal piece designed specifically for you — handcrafted to be collected, worn, and treasured for generations.

Why Bespoke Stone Art is the Ultimate Statement

Whistler is known for its rugged peaks and raw natural beauty. At Fathom Stone Art, we believe that beauty shouldn't stay outside. Whether it’s the ethereal glow of an alabaster pendant or the grounding presence of a BC Jade sculpture, stone brings an elemental luxury to a home that no other material can match.

As we move through 2026, the world of interior design is shifting. Homeowners are moving away from mass-produced fixtures and toward functional art—pieces that tell a story of craftsmanship, local sourcing, and timelessness.

The Rise of Sculptural Stone Lighting

One of the most sought-after elements in modern mountain architecture today is sculptural stone lighting. Unlike glass or metal, natural stone like marble and alabaster has a unique "translucency." When illuminated from within, the stone’s natural veins and mineral deposits create a warm, organic glow that transforms a room’s atmosphere.

At our Whistler studio, our artists specialize in:

Bespoke Commissions: Large-scale architectural elements tailored to your space.

Fine Jewelry: Wearable art carved from rare gemstones.

Museum-Quality Sculptures: From life-size polar bears to abstract geometric forms.

Hands-On Creativity: Whistler’s Best Family Activity

While our gallery showcases world-class pieces, we believe art should be accessible. If you’re visiting the village and looking for a unique rainy-day activity in Whistler, our daily stone carving classes offer a hands-on connection to the land.

We teach kids and adults the ancient art of soapstone carving. In just a few hours, students go from a raw block of stone to a polished masterpiece—a grizzly bear, an orca, or a traditional Inukshuk. It’s more than a class; it’s a way to take a piece of British Columbia home with you.
