This is an outside gemstone plate backed by shale mined with the Ammonite. Tilt the specimen to see just how thin the layers of Ammolite are! This art piece has been naturally finished to display the Ammonites original beauty direct from the mine site. This specimen shows the Siphuncle (rounded tube), at the top outer ridge of the Ammonite. The Siphuncle was used to take on gas to rise and lower in the deep depths of our ancient oceans!
