A little about me, the author and something new I’m creating.

For those I haven’t had the pleasure of meeting, I’m Jennifer, and I’m part of the team at Fathom Stone Art in Whistler.
My work centres around helping people discover our sculptures, stone-carving experiences, and custom lighting. You might find me in the gallery, discussing a commission, helping someone choose a piece for their home, or sharing a new arrival that I can’t wait for people to see.
What I enjoy most is the personal side of it all. I love learning what someone is drawn to, hearing about their home, and understanding what they hope to find. Sometimes a sculpture catches their attention immediately. Other times, we spend a little longer exploring different possibilities together.
I approach that process by listening. Looking at photographs of a room, talking through materials and proportions, and considering how a piece will feel in the space are all part of helping someone make a choice they’ll love living with.
I have such an appreciation for beautiful art—the thought behind it, the skill it takes to create it, and the details you notice when you spend time with it. Working with natural stone makes that especially interesting. The veining, colour, and character of the material bring something to each piece that can never be repeated exactly.
There’s something deeply rewarding about helping a work of art find its place in someone’s home. I love imagining it becoming part of everyday life: a sculpture you pass each morning, a light that makes a room feel warm in the evening, or a piece that visitors always stop to ask about.
Spending so much time around these works has also encouraged me to explore my own ideas. I’ve recently decided to begin designing some pieces of my own, and I’m excited—and a little nervous—to share that part of the process with you.
As I share my designs, I would really appreciate your honest feedback. What catches your eye? What would you change? Could you imagine a piece in your own home?
You don’t need an art background to have an opinion. I’d love to hear what you think, even when something isn’t quite your taste. Your perspective will help me consider things I might not have seen on my own.
Thank you for being here, supporting our gallery, and giving me the encouragement to try something new.
Here’s my first piece ….do you think it would sell?

Warm Regards,
Jennifer Egilson
